Business insurance in Inglewood and Los Angeles
This page helps you get ready for a conversation. It is not a quote. Billy compares options from the carriers he works with, and the carrier sets the price.
What to have ready
Your business name and address, what the business does, how long it has been open, the number of employees and yearly payroll, yearly revenue, any vehicles used for work, and any current policies or claims.
Coverage small businesses ask about
- General liability: injuries to customers and damage to other people's property.
- Business owner's policy (BOP): general liability and business property together in one policy.
- Workers' compensation: medical care and lost wages when an employee is hurt on the job.
- Commercial auto: vehicles owned by the business or driven mainly for work.
- Professional liability (errors and omissions): claims that your advice or service caused a client a loss.
- Surety bonds: the bonds a license, permit or contract can require.
- Commercial flood and earthquake: coverage a standard property policy leaves out.
Workers' comp starts with your first employee
California employers must have workers' compensation insurance, even if they have only one employee (California Division of Workers' Compensation).
Contractors
Licensed contractors must keep a contractor's bond on file with the Contractors State License Board, and many jobs require proof of liability coverage before work starts. Billy can help with the bond, the liability policy and the certificates your clients ask for.
Working from home or from your car
A homeowners or personal auto policy may not cover business equipment, business visitors or a vehicle used mainly for work. Ask Billy to check before you count on it.
