Pre-need funeral planning questions

Straight answers to what families ask most. If yours is not here, ask it on a planning call.

What does pre-need mean?

Pre-need means arranging a funeral before it is needed: deciding the service, burial or cremation, and merchandise ahead of time, and usually funding it too.

Do I have to pay it all now?

No. Homesteaders Life offers flexible payment options. Which ones fit depends on the plan and your application, and Billy shows you the options in writing at the meeting.

Can my family change the plan?

The plan records your wishes. What can be changed later, and how, depends on the contract you sign. Billy goes over that with you before you sign anything.

Is this life insurance or a funeral contract?

Both exist, and they are separate. The funeral arrangement is made with Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary. The Homesteaders Life policy is life insurance that funds it.

Do you come to the house?

Billy can meet at your home in the service area, by phone or video, or at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary. Choose what works for you on the request form.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Billy is bilingual, and the whole process can be in Spanish. Sí, hablamos español.

What if I already have a plot?

Good, that is one less decision. Cemetery property and funeral home services are separate, so the plan can be built around the plot you own. Bring the paperwork to the meeting.

Is this Medi-Cal advice?

No. Planning is not Medi-Cal advice. California residents 65 or older receive a written disclosure before any policy is bought. Ask about it on a planning call.

What will this site not tell me?

Prices. Funeral prices come from the funeral home's General Price List, which you see at the meeting, and policy costs depend on your plan and application. We would rather give you the real numbers in writing than a guess online.
